When and how it all
started
Clifford Powell has a long history dating back
to 1891 when it began business as W.L Powell
Saddlery. In 1915 it was taken over by Q.A
Powell and it continued to operated as a
saddlery until the late 1940’s when Clifford
Powell took over and ran it as a Motor Trimmer
until 1978.
It was then sold to Horrie Nowland who continued
to trade as Clifford Powell as did Paul Taliana
when he purchased the business in 1987.
In 1993 Paul Taliana had pushed Clifford Powell
to near its peak and opened a second branch in
Alexandria to release pressure off the
Darlinghurst workshop.
Four years later he decided to consolidate his
efforts back into the original workshop and sell
off the Alexandria shop.
Mark Bonello who had apprenticed under Paul
purchased the business and Sydney Motor Trimmers
was created in 1997.
Clifford Powell later then moved to a new
premises in Botany and continued until in late
2004 Paul Taliana and Mark Bonello decided to
merge the two companies back together operating
as Sydney Motor Trimmers and Clifford Powell
Motor Trimmers from the one location in
Alexandria.
Through our company’s fast growth and vast
experience and thanks to our highly experienced
craftsman, Sydney Motor Trimmers has secured a
highly recognised place within its industry.
Being located in the outer city suburb of
Alexandria, and being accessible by a large
range of businesses, our client base speaks for
itself.
From small repairs to dealing with corporations
and companies like Ford, Avis, Hertz, Qantas,
Legion Cabs & Taxis Combined "just to mention a
